Hey Wayne,

You're right, you will have to work harder to get them to trust you because you're competing with many other marketers. Also you're correct when you say a lot of subscribers are just freebie seekers.

It is best to have your own high value product as you mention such as software or videos. That is exactly what I have done. I just finished a new video series on how to build a high converting squeeze page. The videos are done but I need to finish everything that goes with it so you can download them.

Hopefully I finish this in the next couple days or so.

Later,

Hey Jeff,

Yeah, Giveaways can be good for list building but you should be aware that you will have to work harder to warm them up, build the relationship then convert them to buyers. Some subscribers from giveaways simply aren't buyers. They just want freebies.

Saying that, some of them are but like some freebies - don't we all? :-)

I believe the best way to build a list is to giveaway your own high value product (perhaps software or a video series course which you could charge money for on Clickbank). The people who join your list are buyers and you can build a relationship, trust, authority and credibility during the content being delivered with your product.

I like you blog by the way - pretty smart! :-)

Hey Steven,

Thanks for dropping by and leaving your comment.

The first thing you need to do is find or create a product that you can giveaway for free. Once you do that just sign up to some of the many giveaway events that are constantly going on. You need a special invitation to join these giveaways and to get a look at some you can check out The Giveaway Broadcaster. This is not an exhaustive list but it's a good place to start.

If you don't know where to get a product you can give away MasterResaleRights.com is a site where you can buy PLR products really cheap and turn them into your own by modifying them a little bit. Now you just have to create a squeeze page that gives away this new product of yours and start driving traffic to it.

Hi Jeff, good to read this post, I think Giveaways are experiencing a bit of a revival at the moment, which is good to see.

I struggled for ages trying to build a list and went from about 25 subscribers - which had taken me about 6 months to sign up - to over 4000 in just over 1/2 year ... vurtually all through these events.

I think for building that list of the first 1000 subscribers you really can't beat them.

All the best, Paul

Hi Jeff, just found you on Twitter. I am following you now. I am also an ex student of Alex. I have not yet joined a JV Giveaway simply because I do not know what to expect regarding my contribution. Do they look for anything specific, or do you have to upload in a certain area. Feel free to e-mail me.
