Are You Spending More Time Watching Videos Than You Are Running Your Business?
Are you spending all your time watching videos instead of implementing the things that you learned how to do in the last video? If you fall into this category don’t feel bad, you are not alone. Video has taken the Internet by storm in the last couple years and there’s no sign of it letting up anytime soon. In fact, I’m sure it’s going to get much bigger in the years to come.
But beware, watching videos can be addicting. There are so many out there on sites like Youtube, Viddler, and Revver. You’ll also find them on blogs, links to them in your emails from marketers trying to sell you their products, and in membership sites.
If you are just starting a new online business, or even a seasoned veteran, there is so much to learn from these videos. But if you spend all day watching them and not implementing what you have learned it is all for not.
There also seems to be a new trend happening that I don’t care much for. I’m starting to see a lot more videos out there that don’t have any controls on them so you can’t stop, pause, or fast forward them. So if someone has created a 50 minute long video you’re either stuck watching the whole thing or as I usually do I just shut it down and go do something else.
My time is too precious to sit and watch a video that long unless it’s loaded with great content throughout the entire video, and let’s face it, there just aren’t that many of those out there.
Yes, I watch videos too, but I do it in a lot less time than most. Take that 50 minute video I was talking about earlier. I can watch it in just under 36 minutes. How do I do that you ask?
I ran across this simple little tool the other day and I thought I’d share it with you. It’s called Enounce MySpeed. What this tool does is increase, or decrease, the speed of most videos you watch while maintaining the integrity of the audio so that you can still understand what the person is saying. No Alvin and the Chipmunks effects.
I watch all my videos at 1.4 times the actual speed. This is the highest speed setting for the free version. I see no need but if you want to go a lot faster then you will have to purchase the Pro or Premier versions. No, I’m not trying to sell you anything here and there’s no affiliate link on this post.
So go on and keep watching those videos, just try and be a little more selective and watch ones that are going to help you with your business. If you watch just 10 hours of videos and use the free version of Enounce MySpeed at its highest setting you will free up about 3 hours that you can now use towards growing your business.
til next time…

What a great idea. Can’t say “wish I’d thought of that” but what a time saver this will be. I too have sit and wished they would just get on with the content of the video, as all of us seem pressed for time.

In addition to Myspeed there is another software you might mention is Video Surgeon. This software has the ability to change the speed of the playback, zoom-in, and to set loop points so you can play a section repeatedly. It also automatically detects the URL’s of videos playing on Youtube and thousands of other sites and helps you download them.
