I Feel Like I’ve Been Stranded In Antarctica
I’ve been suffering from Internet withdrawal the last four days. I feel as if I’ve been sentenced to time in Antarctica without my computer.
We here in Massachusetts just experienced a devastating ice storm and we’ve been without heat, telephones and electricity until now. I woke up yesterday morning and it was 37 degrees inside my house. I say I woke up, but really, how much do you think I actually slept when it was that cold in my house. For three days we just stayed in bed covered up in blankets trying to keep warm.
The only good thing was that we didn’t have to worry about losing all our food in the freezer and refrigerator because I just threw it all outside in the frigid temperatures. The mercury stayed between 8 and 18 degrees for three days. We were fortunate that my water pipes didn’t freeze but that’s because I turned all the faucets on throughout the house to keep them from freezing.
I did finally go out in my truck and it was like I was on an obstacle course dodging downed trees, power lines, telephone lines, and cable lines. Many roads were taped off with that yellow tape we’ve all seen on TV they put at crime scenes. I’ve never seen anything like it. It looked just like a hurricane swept through except it was an ice storm. I’ve lived here for 53 years and we get ice storms every winter but never anything like this.
As bad as I had it I know many people had three feet of water in their basements. At least mine stayed dry.
We did get power back yesterday but we lost it again today for awhile.
Just think, it’s only December 15th and we have four more months of really bad weather ahead of us.
Other than that all is well now but I’m so far behind in my internet business it’s going to take a week to catch up.
Like I said in the beginning, I’ve been suffering from Internet withdrawal but I’m finally feeling better because as you can see from this post that I’m back staring at my monitor pecking away at my keyboard.
We all have no idea how much we take things for granted until we are without them.
See ya in the next snow storm…

Sorry to learn about your circumstances. It’s not much consolation knowing others are worse off though is it?
Hopefully things will get better soon.
Good luck with your site and best wishes.
